1:1 나 아브라함은 내 조상의 거주지였던 갈대아 사람의 땅에서 거주할 다른 곳을 얻음이 내게 필요한 줄 깨달았고,
IN the land of the Chaldeans, at the residence of my fathers, I, Abraham, saw that it was needful for me to obtain another place of residence;

And, finding there was greater happiness and peace and rest for me, I sought for the blessings of the fathers, and the right whereunto I should be ordained to administer the same; having been myself a follower of righteousness, desiring also to be one who possessed great knowledge, and to be a greater follower of righteousness, and to possess a greater knowledge, and to be a father of many nations, a prince of peace, and desiring to receive instructions, and to keep the commandments of God, I became a rightful heir, a High Priest, holding the right belonging to the fathers.

It was conferred upon me from the fathers; it came down from the fathers, from the beginning of time, yea, even from the beginning, or before the foundation of the earth, down to the present time, even the right of the firstborn, or the first man, who is Adam, or first father, through the fathers unto me.
1:4 나는 자손에 관하여 조상들에게 주신 하나님의 임명에 따라 신권에 임명되기를 구하였느니라.
I sought for mine appointment unto the Priesthood according to the appointment of God unto the fathers concerning the seed.
1:5 나의 조상들은 그들의 의에서 또 주 그들의 하나님이 그들에게 주신 거룩한 계명에서 돌이켜 이방인의 신들을 섬기며, 나의 음성에 귀 기울이기를 온전히 거절하였느니라.
My fathers, having turned from their righteousness, and from the holy commandments which the Lord their God had given unto them, unto the worshiping of the gods of the heathen, utterly refused to hearken to my voice;
1:6 이는 그들의 마음이 악을 행하기로 정하여졌음이요, 엘케나의 신과 립나의 신과 마막크라의 신과 고라스의 신과 애굽왕 바로의 신에게로 전적으로 돌이켰음이더라.
For their hearts were set to do evil, and were wholly turned to the god of Elkenah, and the god of Libnah, and the god of Mahmackrah, and the god of Korash, and the god of Pharaoh, king of Egypt;
1:7 그러므로 그들은 이들 말 못하는 우상들에게 그들의 자녀를 바치는 이방인의 희생에 그들의 마음을 돌이키고 내 음성에 귀 기울이지 아니하고 도리어 엘케나의 제사장의 손으로 내 생명을 빼앗으려 하였느니라. 엘케나의 제사장은 또한 바로의 제사장이기도 하더라.
Therefore they turned their hearts to the sacrifice of the heathen in offering up their children unto these dumb idols, and hearkened not unto my voice, but endeavored to take away my life by the hand of the priest of Elkenah. The priest of Elkenah was also the priest of Pharaoh.
1:8 이제 이때 애굽왕 바로의 제사장의 관습은 이들 이방 신들에게 바치는 제물로 갈대아 땅에 세워진 제단 위에 남자와 여자와 아이들을 바치는 것이었더라.
Now, at this time it was the custom of the priest of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, to offer up upon the altar which was built in the land of Chaldea, for the offering unto these strange gods, men, women, and children.
1:9 그리고 이렇게 되었나니, 제사장은 애굽인의 방식에 따라 바로의 신과 또한 샤그르엘의 신에게 제물을 바치더라. 이제 샤그르엘의 신은 태양이더라.
And it came to pass that the priest made an offering unto the god of Pharaoh, and also unto the god of Shagreel, even after the manner of the Egyptians. Now the god of Shagreel was the sun.
1:10 바로의 제사장은 올리셈 평원 어귀에 있는 보디발의 산이라 하는 산 곁에 세워진 제단 위에 심지어 어린아이를 감사 제물로 바치더라.
Even the thank-offering of a child did the priest of Pharaoh offer upon the altar which stood by the hill called Potiphar’s Hill, at the head of the plain of Olishem.
1:11 이제 이 제사장은 한 번에 세 처녀를 이 제단에 바치기도 하였으니, 이들은 함의 허리에서 나온 직계 왕족의 한 사람인 오니타의 딸들이었더라. 이 처녀들은 그들의 유덕함으로 말미암아 바쳐졌나니, 그들이 나무나 돌로 된 신들에게 엎드려 절하지 않으려 하였으므로 그들은 이 제단 위에서 죽임을 당하였으니, 이 일은 애굽인의 방식에 따라 행하여졌더라.
Now, this priest had offered upon this altar three virgins at one time, who were the daughters of Onitah, one of the royal descent directly from the loins of Ham. These virgins were offered up because of their virtue; they would not bow down to worship gods of wood or of stone, therefore they were killed upon this altar, and it was done after the manner of the Egyptians.
1:12 그리고 이렇게 되었나니, 그 제사장들이 내게 폭력을 휘둘러 그들이 이 제단 위에서 그 처녀들을 죽인 것같이 나를 또한 죽이려 하였더라. 너희가 이 제단에 대하여 알 수 있도록 나는 너희가 이 기록의 첫머리에 있는 그림을 참조하기 바라노라.
And it came to pass that the priests laid violence upon me, that they might slay me also, as they did those virgins upon this altar; and that you may have a knowledge of this altar, I will refer you to the representation at the commencement of this record.
1:13 그것은 갈대아 사람들 가운데 있던 것 같은, 침대 모양을 따라 만들어졌으며, 엘케나, 립나, 마막크라, 고라스의 신들과 또한 애굽왕 바로의 신을 닮은 신 앞에 세워져 있더라.
It was made after the form of a bedstead, such as was had among the Chaldeans, and it stood before the gods of Elkenah, Libnah, Mahmackrah, Korash, and also a god like unto that of Pharaoh, king of Egypt.
1:14 너희가 이 신들을 이해할 수 있도록 나는 시작 부분에 있는 그림 중에 그들의 모습을 보여 주었느니라. 이러한 모습의 도형을 갈대아인은 랄르에노스라 부르나니, 이는 상형 문자를 의미하느니라.
That you may have an understanding of these gods, I have given you the fashion of them in the figures at the beginning, which manner of figures is called by the Chaldeans Rahleenos, which signifies hieroglyphics.
1:15 그들이 나를 제물로 바치고 내 생명을 빼앗으려고 그들의 손을 내 위로 들어 올렸을 때 보라, 내가 주 나의 하나님께 나의 목소리를 높였더니, 주께서 귀 기울여 들으시고, 전능자의 시현으로 나를 채우셨고 그가 임재하시는 곳의 천사가 내 곁에 서서 즉시 내 결박을 풀었더라.
And as they lifted up their hands upon me, that they might offer me up and take away my life, behold, I lifted up my voice unto the Lord my God, and the Lord hearkened and heard, and he filled me with the vision of the Almighty, and the angel of his presence stood by me, and immediately unloosed my bands;
1:16 그리고 그의 음성이 내게 이르시되, 아브라함아, 아브라함아, 보라, 내 이름은 여호와니라. 내가 네 음성을 듣고 내려와 너를 건져내어 네 아버지의 집에서 그리고 네 모든 친척에게서 데리고 나가, 네가 알지 못하는 타국 땅으로 들어가게 하려 하노라.
And his voice was unto me: Abraham, Abraham, behold, my name is Jehovah, and I have heard thee, and have come down to deliver thee, and to take thee away from thy father’s house, and from all thy kinsfolk, into a strange land which thou knowest not of;
1:17 이는 그들이 내게서 그들의 마음을 돌이켜 엘케나의 신과 립나의 신과 마막크라의 신과 고라스의 신과 애굽왕 바로의 신을 경배하였음이니, 그러므로 나는 그들을 징벌하고 나의 아들 아브라함 너를 대적하여 그 손을 들어 올려 네 생명을 빼앗으려한 자를 멸하려고 내려왔느니라.
And this because they have turned their hearts away from me, to worship the god of Elkenah, and the god of Libnah, and the god of Mahmackrah, and the god of Korash, and the god of Pharaoh, king of Egypt; therefore I have come down to visit them, and to destroy him who hath lifted up his hand against thee, Abraham, my son, to take away thy life.
1:18 보라, 나는 내 손으로 너를 인도할 것이요, 너를 취하여 나의 이름 곧 네 아버지의 신권을 네게 두리니, 내 권능이 너를 덮으리라.
Behold, I will lead thee by my hand, and I will take thee, to put upon thee my name, even the Priesthood of thy father, and my power shall be over thee.
1:19 노아에게 있었던 것같이 네게도 그리하리라. 그러나 네 성역을 통하여 내 이름이 땅에서 영원히 알려지리니, 이는 내가 네 하나님임이니라.
As it was with Noah so shall it be with thee; but through thy ministry my name shall be known in the earth forever, for I am thy God.
1:20 보라, 보디발의 산은 갈대아 우르 땅에 있었느니라. 그리고 주께서 엘케나와 그 땅의 신들의 제단을 허시고, 그것들을 온전히 멸하시고 그 제사장을 치시니, 그가 죽었더라. 이에 갈대아와 또한 바로의 궁정에 큰 애곡이 있었나니, 이 바로는 왕족의 혈통에 의한 왕을 의미하느니라.
Behold, Potiphar’s Hill was in the land of Ur, of Chaldea. And the Lord broke down the altar of Elkenah, and of the gods of the land, and utterly destroyed them, and smote the priest that he died; and there was great mourning in Chaldea, and also in the court of Pharaoh; which Pharaoh signifies king by royal blood.
1:21 이제 이 애굽의 왕은 함의 허리에서 나온 후손으로, 출생으로는 가나안인의 혈통을 이어 받은 자더라.
Now this king of Egypt was a descendant from the loins of Ham, and was a partaker of the blood of the Canaanites by birth.
1:22 이 혈통에서 모든 애굽인이 나왔고 이같이 하여 가나안인의 혈통이 그 땅에 보전되었더라.
From this descent sprang all the Egyptians, and thus the blood of the Canaanites was preserved in the land.
1:23 애굽 땅은 처음에 한 여인이 발견하였으니, 그는 함의 딸이요 애굽투스의 딸이니, 애굽투스는 갈대아어로 애굽을 뜻하며 금지된 것을 의미하느니라.
The land of Egypt being first discovered by a woman, who was the daughter of Ham, and the daughter of Egyptus, which in the Chaldean signifies Egypt, which signifies that which is forbidden;
1:24 이 여인이 그 땅을 발견하였을 때 그 땅은 물 아래 있었고 후에 그 여인이 자기 아들들을 그 땅에 정착시켰나니, 그리하여 그 땅에 저주를 보전한 저 종족이 함에게서 나왔더라.
When this woman discovered the land it was under water, who afterward settled her sons in it; and thus, from Ham, sprang that race which preserved the curse in the land.
1:25 이제 애굽의 첫 정부는 함의 딸 애굽투스의 맏아들 바로가 세웠으니, 이는 함의 정부의 방식을 따랐으니, 족장제였더라.
Now the first government of Egypt was established by Pharaoh, the eldest son of Egyptus, the daughter of Ham, and it was after the manner of the government of Ham, which was patriarchal.
1:26 의로운 사람이었던 바로는 자기 왕국을 세우고 그의 온 생애 동안 자기 백성을 지혜롭고 공평하게 다스렸고 처음 여러 세대에, 첫 족장 통치 시대에, 곧 아담과 또한 그 조상 노아가 다스리던 때에 조상들이 확립한 그 반차를 모방하기를 열심히 구하였더라. 그의 조상 노아는 땅의 축복과 지혜의 축복으로 그를 축복하였으나, 신권에 관하여는 그를 저주하였더라.
Pharaoh, being a righteous man, established his kingdom and judged his people wisely and justly all his days, seeking earnestly to imitate that order established by the fathers in the first generations, in the days of the first patriarchal reign, even in the reign of Adam, and also of Noah, his father, who blessed him with the blessings of the earth, and with the blessings of wisdom, but cursed him as pertaining to the Priesthood.
1:27 이제 바로는 신권의 권리를 가질 수 없는 혈통에 속하였으나 그럼에도 불구하고 바로들은 함을 통하여 노아에게서 그것을 받은 것으로 주장하고자 하였으므로 나의 아버지는 그들의 우상 숭배에 이끌려 가셨더라.
Now, Pharaoh being of that lineage by which he could not have the right of Priesthood, notwithstanding the Pharaohs would fain claim it from Noah, through Ham, therefore my father was led away by their idolatry;
1:28 그러나 나는 이후로 나 자신으로부터 창조의 시작까지 거슬러 올라가는 연대기를 힘써 기술하리니, 이는 그 기록이 내 수중에 들어왔고 이를 내가 지금까지 가지고 있음이니라.
But I shall endeavor, hereafter, to delineate the chronology running back from myself to the beginning of the creation, for the records have come into my hands, which I hold unto this present time.
1:29 이제, 엘케나의 제사장이 치심을 입어 죽은 후에, 갈대아 땅에 관하여 내게 말씀해 주신 바 그 땅에 기근이 있으리라 하신 그 일이 이루어졌더라.
Now, after the priest of Elkenah was smitten that he died, there came a fulfilment of those things which were said unto me concerning the land of Chaldea, that there should be a famine in the land.
1:30 따라서 기근이 갈대아 온 땅에 퍼졌고, 나의 부친은 기근으로 말미암아 심한 괴로움을 당하셨으며, 이에 나를 거스려 결정하였던 악 곧 내 생명을 빼앗으려고 하던 것을 회개하시더라.
Accordingly a famine prevailed throughout all the land of Chaldea, and my father was sorely tormented because of the famine, and he repented of the evil which he had determined against me, to take away my life.
1:31 그러나 신권의 권리에 관한 조상 곧 족장들의 기록은 주 나의 하나님께서 내 손 안에 보전하셨으니, 그러므로 창조의 시작과 또한 행성과 별들에 관한 지식은 조상에게 알려진 대로 내가 오늘날까지 보관하여 왔고 또 내 후에 올 나의 후손의 유익을 위하여 이 기록 위에 힘써 어느 정도 기록하려 하노라.
But the records of the fathers, even the patriarchs, concerning the right of Priesthood, the Lord my God preserved in mine own hands; therefore a knowledge of the beginning of the creation, and also of the planets, and of the stars, as they were made known unto the fathers, have I kept even unto this day, and I shall endeavor to write some of these things upon this record, for the benefit of my posterity that shall come after me.

Abraham leaves Ur to go to Canaan—Jehovah appears to him at Haran—All gospel blessings are promised to his seed, and through his seed to all—He goes to Canaan, and on to Egypt.
2:1 이제 주 하나님이 우르 땅에 기근을 심하게 하셨으므로 내 형제 하란이 죽었으나 나의 부친 데라는 갈대아인의 우르 땅에 여전히 사셨느니라.
NOW the Lord God caused the famine to wax sore in the land of Ur, insomuch that Haran, my brother, died; but Terah, my father, yet lived in the land of Ur, of the Chaldees.
2:2 그리고 이렇게 되었나니, 나 아브라함은 사래를 아내로 맞이하였고 내 형제 나홀은 하란의 딸 밀가를 아내로 맞이하니라.
And it came to pass that I, Abraham, took Sarai to wife, and Nahor, my brother, took Milcah to wife, who was the daughter of Haran.
2:3 이제 주께서 내게 이르시되, 아브라함아, 네 나라와 네 친척과 네 아버지의 집을 떠나 내가 네게 보여 줄 땅으로 가라 하시니라.
Now the Lord had said unto me: Abraham, get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will show thee.
2:4 그러므로 나는 갈대아인의 우르 땅을 떠나 가나안 땅으로 들어갔더라. 그리고 나는 내 형제의 아들 롯과 그의 아내와 나의 아내 사래를 데리고 갔으며, 또한 나의 부친도 우리가 하란이라 이름한 땅으로 나를 따라오셨더라.
Therefore I left the land of Ur, of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and I took Lot, my brother’s son, and his wife, and Sarai my wife; and also my father followed after me, unto the land which we denominated Haran.
2:5 그런데 기근이 심하지 않게 되었고 하란에 양 떼가 많으므로 나의 부친은 하란에 머물러 거기 거하셨으며, 나의 부친은 다시 우상 숭배로 돌이키셨으니, 그러므로 그는 하란에 계속 머무셨더라.
And the famine abated; and my father tarried in Haran and dwelt there, as there were many flocks in Haran; and my father turned again unto his idolatry, therefore he continued in Haran.
2:6 그러나 나 아브라함과 내 형제의 아들 롯은 주께 기도하였고, 이에 주께서 내게 나타나사 내게 이르시되, 일어나 롯을 데리고 가라. 이는 내가 너를 하란에서 데리고 나가 타국 땅에서 내 이름을 받들 성역자가 되게 하기로 뜻을 정하였음이니, 네 뒤를 이을 네 자손이 나의 음성에 귀을 기울이면 나는 그 땅을 그들에게 영원한 소유로 주리라.
But I, Abraham, and Lot, my brother’s son, prayed unto the Lord, and the Lord appeared unto me, and said unto me: Arise, and take Lot with thee; for I have purposed to take thee away out of Haran, and to make of thee a minister to bear my name in a strange land which I will give unto thy seed after thee for an everlasting possession, when they hearken to my voice.
2:7 대저 나는 주 네 하나님이니라. 나는 하늘에 거하며 땅은 내 발등상이라. 내가 내 손을 바다 위에 펴면 바다가 내 음성에 순종하느니라. 나는 바람과 불을 나의 수레가 되게 하며 내가 산더러 이르기를 - 여기에서 떠나라 - 하면, 보라, 홀연히 일순간에 산들은 회오리바람에 취하여 감을 당하느니라.
For I am the Lord thy God; I dwell in heaven; the earth is my footstool; I stretch my hand over the sea, and it obeys my voice; I cause the wind and the fire to be my chariot; I say to the mountains—Depart hence—and behold, they are taken away by a whirlwind, in an instant, suddenly.
2:8 내 이름은 여호와니, 나는 시작부터 끝을 아느니라. 그러므로, 내 손이 네 위에 있으리라.
My name is Jehovah, and I know the end from the beginning; therefore my hand shall be over thee.
2:9 또 내가 너로 큰 나라가 되게 하겠고 내가 네게 한량 없이 복을 주어 네 이름을 모든 나라 가운데서 크게 할 것인즉, 너는 네 뒤를 이을 네 자손에게 복이 되리니, 그들은 그들의 손으로 이 성역과 신권을 지니고 모든 나라에게 전하리라.
And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee above measure, and make thy name great among all nations, and thou shalt be a blessing unto thy seed after thee, that in their hands they shall bear this ministry and Priesthood unto all nations;
2:10 또 내가 네 이름을 통하여 그들에게 복을 주리니, 이 복음을 받아들이는 자마다 네 이름으로 불리울 것이요, 네 자손으로 헤아림을 받을 것이요, 그들은 일어나 너를 그들의 조상으로 찬양하리라.
And I will bless them through thy name; for as many as receive this Gospel shall be called after thy name, and shall be accounted thy seed, and shall rise up and bless thee, as their father;
2:11 또 나는 너를 축복하는 자를 축복하고 너를 저주하는 자를 저주하리라. 그리고 너로 말미암아 (이는 곧 네 신권으로 말미암는 것이라) 그리고 네 자손으로 말미암아 (이는 곧 네 신권이라,) 이는 이 권리가 너와 네 뒤를 이을 자손 (말하자면, 실제 자손 곧 몸의 자손) 가운데 계속 이어지리라는 약속을 네게 줌이니, 땅의 모든 족속이 복음의 축복으로 복을 받을 것인즉, 구원의 축복 곧 영생의 축복이니라.
And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse them that curse thee; and in thee (that is, in thy Priesthood) and in thy seed (that is, thy Priesthood), for I give unto thee a promise that this right shall continue in thee, and in thy seed after thee (that is to say, the literal seed, or the seed of the body) shall all the families of the earth be blessed, even with the blessings of the Gospel, which are the blessings of salvation, even of life eternal.
2:12 이제 주께서 내게 말씀하시기를 마치시고, 그 얼굴이 내게서 물러간 후에 내가 내 마음 속으로 이르기를, 당신의 종이 당신을 간절히 구하였더니, 이제 내가 당신을 찾았나이다.
Now, after the Lord had withdrawn from speaking to me, and withdrawn his face from me, I said in my heart: Thy servant has sought thee earnestly; now I have found thee;
2:13 당신께서 실로 당신의 천사를 보내사 엘케나의 신들에게서 나를 건지셨사오니, 내가 당신의 음성을 듣는 것이 잘 행하는 일이 되겠나이다. 그러므로 당신의 종으로 일어나 평안히 떠나게 하소서 하였더라.
Thou didst send thine angel to deliver me from the gods of Elkenah, and I will do well to hearken unto thy voice, therefore let thy servant rise up and depart in peace.
2:14 그리하여 나 아브라함은 주께서 내게 말씀하신 대로 떠났고, 롯도 함께 갔으니, 나 아브라함이 하란을 떠날 때에 육십이 세였더라.
So I, Abraham, departed as the Lord had said unto me, and Lot with me; and I, Abraham, was sixty and two years old when I departed out of Haran.
2:15 그리고 내가 갈대아 우르에 있을 때 아내로 맞은 사래와 내 형제의 아들 롯과 우리가 모은 우리의 모든 재산과 우리가 하란에서 얻은 사람들을 데리고 가나안 땅에 이르는 길로 나아갔고, 우리가 가는 도중에는 천막에 거하였더라.
And I took Sarai, whom I took to wife when I was in Ur, in Chaldea, and Lot, my brother’s son, and all our substance that we had gathered, and the souls that we had won in Haran, and came forth in the way to the land of Canaan, and dwelt in tents as we came on our way;
2:16 그러므로 우리가 하란을 떠나 가나안 땅에 이르려고 옐손의 길로 여행하는 동안 영원은 우리의 덮개요, 우리의 반석이요, 우리의 구원이더라.
Therefore, eternity was our covering and our rock and our salvation, as we journeyed from Haran by the way of Jershon, to come to the land of Canaan.
2:17 이제 나 아브라함이 옐손 땅에서 제단을 쌓고 주께 제물을 드리고 내 아버지의 집이 멸망하지 않도록 기근이 그들에게서 돌이켜지기를 빌었더라.
Now I, Abraham, built an altar in the land of Jershon, and made an offering unto the Lord, and prayed that the famine might be turned away from my father’s house, that they might not perish.
2:18 그러고 나서 우리는 옐손을 떠나 그 땅을 통과하여 세겜 지방으로 갔더라. 그 곳은 모레 평지에 위치해 있었고 우리는 이미 가나안인의 땅 경계 안으로 들어왔더라. 이에 나는 거기 모레 평지에서 희생을 드리고 경건하게 주의 이름을 불렀나니, 이는 우리가 이미 이 우상을 숭배하는 나라의 땅에 들어왔음이더라.
And then we passed from Jershon through the land unto the place of Sechem; it was situated in the plains of Moreh, and we had already come into the borders of the land of the Canaanites, and I offered sacrifice there in the plains of Moreh, and called on the Lord devoutly, because we had already come into the land of this idolatrous nation.
2:19 이에 주께서 내 기도에 응답하사 내게 나타나시고 내게 이르시되, 네 자손에게 내가 이 땅을 주리라 하시더라.
And the Lord appeared unto me in answer to my prayers, and said unto me: Unto thy seed will I give this land.
2:20 이제 나 아브라함은 내가 주를 위하여 제단을 쌓은 곳에서 일어나 그 곳을 떠나 벧엘 동편에 있는 산으로 옮겨가서 그 곳에 나의 천막을 쳤으니, 서쪽은 벧엘이요 동쪽은 하이더라. 그리고 그 곳에 내가 주께 또 다른 제단을 쌓고 다시 주의 이름을 불렀더라.
And I, Abraham, arose from the place of the altar which I had built unto the Lord, and removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched my tent there, Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east; and there I built another altar unto the Lord, and called again upon the name of the Lord.
2:21 그리고 나 아브라함은 여전히 남쪽을 향하여 계속 나아가며 여행하였고 그 땅에 기근이 계속되었더라. 이에 나 아브라함은 애굽으로 내려가 거기에 머물기로 결론을 내렸나니, 이는 기근이 매우 심하였음이더라.
And I, Abraham, journeyed, going on still towards the south; and there was a continuation of a famine in the land; and I, Abraham, concluded to go down into Egypt, to sojourn there, for the famine became very grievous.
2:22 그리고 이렇게 되었나니, 내가 애굽애 들어가는 곳 가까이에 이르렀을 때에 주께서 내게 이르시되, 보라, 네 아내 사래는 보기에 매우 아리따운 여인이라.
And it came to pass when I was come near to enter into Egypt, the Lord said unto me: Behold, Sarai, thy wife, is a very fair woman to look upon;
2:23 그러므로 이렇게 되리니, 애굽인들이 그를 볼 때에 그들이 말하기를 - 그는 저의 아내라 하며, 그들은 너를 죽일 것이나 그는 살려 두리라. 그러므로 너희는 삼가 이같이 행하도록 하라.
Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see her, they will say—She is his wife; and they will kill you, but they will save her alive; therefore see that ye do on this wise:
2:24 그로 애굽인에게 자기는 네 누이라 말하게 하라. 그리하면 네 영혼이 살리라 하시더라.
Let her say unto the Egyptians, she is thy sister, and thy soul shall live.
2:25 이에 이렇게 되었나니, 나 아브라함이 주께서 내게 하신 말씀을 나의 아내 사래에게 모두 말하되 - 그러므로 청컨대 그들에게 그대는 내 누이라 말하라. 그리하면 내가 그대로 인하여 안전할 것이요, 내 영혼이 그대로 인하여 살리라 하였더라.
And it came to pass that I, Abraham, told Sarai, my wife, all that the Lord had said unto me—Therefore say unto them, I pray thee, thou art my sister, that it may be well with me for thy sake, and my soul shall live because of thee.

Abraham learns about the sun, moon, and stars by means of the Urim and Thummim—The Lord reveals to him the eternal nature of spirits—He learns of pre-earth life, foreordination, the creation, the choosing of a Redeemer, and the second estate of man.
3:1 그리고 나 아브라함은 갈대아인의 우르에서 주 나의 하나님이 내게 주신 우림과 둠밈을 가지고 있었느니라.
AND I, Abraham, had the Urim and Thummim, which the Lord my God had given unto me, in Ur of the Chaldees;
3:2 그리고 내가 별들을 보니, 그것들이 매우 크며, 그 중 하나는 하나님의 보좌에 가장 가까우며 그것 가까이에 큰 것들이 많이 있더라.
And I saw the stars, that they were very great, and that one of them was nearest unto the throne of God; and there were many great ones which were near unto it;
3:3 그리고 주께서 내게 이르시되, 이것들은 다스리는 것들이며 그 큰 것의 이름은 콜롭이니, 이는 그것이 내게 가까이 있는 까닭이라. 이는 내가 주 네 하나님이 됨이니라. 내가 이것을 두어 네가 서 있는 것과 같은 등급에 속하는 모든 것을 다스리게 하였느니라.
And the Lord said unto me: These are the governing ones; and the name of the great one is Kolob, because it is near unto me, for I am the Lord thy God: I have set this one to govern all those which belong to the same order as that upon which thou standest.
3:4 그리고 주께서 우림과 둠밈으로 내게 이르시되, 콜롭은 그 회전에 있어서 그 시간과 계절에 따르면 주의 방식을 따르나니, 주의 계산 방식에 따르면 주께는 한 회전이 하루가 되느니라. 이는 네가 서 있는 곳에 정해진 시간에 따르면 일천 년이 되느니라. 이것은 콜롭의 계산법에 따른 주의 시간의 계산법이니라.
And the Lord said unto me, by the Urim and Thummim, that Kolob was after the manner of the Lord, according to its times and seasons in the revolutions thereof; that one revolution was a day unto the Lord, after his manner of reckoning, it being one thousand years according to the time appointed unto that whereon thou standest. This is the reckoning of the Lord’s time, according to the reckoning of Kolob.
3:5 또 주께서 내게 이르시되, 낮을 주관하게 되어 있는 것보다 더 작은, 곧 밤을 주관하는 작은 광명체인 그 행성은, 시간 계산의 면에서는 네가 서 있는 곳보다 더 높거나 더 크도다. 이는 그것이 등급 내에서 느리게 운행함이니, 이것에 질서가 있음은 그것이 네가 서 있는 지구보다 높이 있는 까닭이라. 그러므로 그 시간의 계산은 그 날과 달과 해의 수에 있어서는 그만큼 많지 아니하느니라.
And the Lord said unto me: The planet which is the lesser light, lesser than that which is to rule the day, even the night, is above or greater than that upon which thou standest in point of reckoning, for it moveth in order more slow; this is in order because it standeth above the earth upon which thou standest, therefore the reckoning of its time is not so many as to its number of days, and of months, and of years.
3:6 또 주께서 내게 이르시되, 자, 아브라함아, 이 두 가지 사실이 존재하나니, 보라, 네 눈이 그것을 보느니라. 계산의 시간과 정해진 시간 그러하도다. 네가 서 있는 지구의 정해진 시간과 낮을 주관하도록 두신 큰 광명체의 정해진 시간과 밤을 주관하도록 두신 작은 광명체의 정해진 시간을 아는 것이 네게 허락되었느니라.
And the Lord said unto me: Now, Abraham, these two facts exist, behold thine eyes see it; it is given unto thee to know the times of reckoning, and the set time, yea, the set time of the earth upon which thou standest, and the set time of the greater light which is set to rule the day, and the set time of the lesser light which is set to rule the night.
3:7 이제 작은 광명체의 정해진 시간은 그 계산에 있어서는 네가 서 있는 지구의 시간의 계산보다 더 긴 시간이니라.
Now the set time of the lesser light is a longer time as to its reckoning than the reckoning of the time of the earth upon which thou standest.
3:8 그리고 이 두 가지 사실이 존재하는 곳에는 이 둘 위에 다른 또 한가지 사실이 있나니, 이는 곧 시간의 계산이 보다 더 긴 다른 행성이 있으리라 함이니라.
And where these two facts exist, there shall be another fact above them, that is, there shall be another planet whose reckoning of time shall be longer still;
3:9 그리고 이같이 한 행성의 시간의 계산은 다른 것보다 상위에 있어 네가 콜롭 가까이에 이르기까지 그러하리니, 이 콜롭은 주의 시간의 계산을 따르느니라. 이 콜롭은 네가 서 있는 곳과 같은 등급에 속하는 모든 행성을 주관하도록 하나님의 보좌 가까이에 놓여 있느니라.
And thus there shall be the reckoning of the time of one planet above another, until thou come nigh unto Kolob, which Kolob is after the reckoning of the Lord’s time; which Kolob is set nigh unto the throne of God, to govern all those planets which belong to the same order as that upon which thou standest.
3:10 그리고 네가 하나님의 보좌 가까이에 이르기까지, 빛을 발하도록 놓아 두신 모든 별의 정해진 시간을 아는 것이 네게 허락되었느니라.
And it is given unto thee to know the set time of all the stars that are set to give light, until thou come near unto the throne of God.
3:11 이같이 나 아브라함은 사람이 얼굴을 마주하여 서로 대화하듯 주와 말씀하였고, 그는 그의 손으로 만드신 것들에 대하여 내게 말씀하셨더라.
Thus I, Abraham, talked with the Lord, face to face, as one man talketh with another; and he told me of the works which his hands had made;
3:12 또 그가 내게 이르시되, 내 아들아, 내 아들아 하시며 (그리고 그의 손을 펴시고) 보라, 내가 이 모든 것을 네게 보여 주리라 하시고, 그 손을 내 눈에 대시매, 내가 그 손으로 만드신 것들을 보았나니, 그것들이 내 눈 앞에서 불어나서 그 끝을 내가 볼 수 없었더라.
And he said unto me: My son, my son (and his hand was stretched out), behold I will show you all these. And he put his hand upon mine eyes, and I saw those things which his hands had made, which were many; and they multiplied before mine eyes, and I could not see the end thereof.
3:13 또 그가 내게 이르시되, 이는 시네하니 곧 해이니라. 또 내게 이르시되, 코곱, 이는 별이니라. 그리고 그가 내게 이르시되, 올레아, 이는 달이니라. 그리고 그가 내게 이르시되, 코가우빔, 이는 별들 또는 하늘의 궁창에 있는 모든 큰 광명체들을 의미하느니라.
And he said unto me: This is Shinehah, which is the sun. And he said unto me: Kokob, which is star. And he said unto me: Olea, which is the moon. And he said unto me: Kokaubeam, which signifies stars, or all the great lights, which were in the firmament of heaven.
3:14 그리고 주께서 내게 이 말씀을 하실 때는 밤 시간이었나니, 이르시기를, 내가 너와 너를 이을 네 자손을 이것들처럼 번성하게 하리라. 또 만일 네가 모래의 수를 셀 수 있을진대, 네 자손들의 수도 그러하리라 하시더라.
And it was in the night time when the Lord spake these words unto me: I will multiply thee, and thy seed after thee, like unto these; and if thou canst count the number of sands, so shall be the number of thy seeds.
3:15 또 주께서 내게 이르시되, 아브라함아, 너희가 이 모든 말씀을 선포할 수 있도록 나는 너희가 애굽에 들어가기 전에 이것들을 네게 보여 주노라.
And the Lord said unto me: Abraham, I show these things unto thee before ye go into Egypt, that ye may declare all these words.
3:16 만일 두 가지 것이 존재하고 하나가 다른 것보다 상위에 있다면 그들보다 더 큰 것들이 있을 것이라. 그러므로 콜롭은 네가 본 모든 코가우빔 중에서 가장 크니, 이는 그것이 내게 가장 가까이 있음이니라.
If two things exist, and there be one above the other, there shall be greater things above them; therefore Kolob is the greatest of all the Kokaubeam that thou hast seen, because it is nearest unto me.
3:17 이제 만일 두 가지 것이 있어 하나가 다른 것보다 상위에 있고 달이 지구보다 상위에 있으면, 그렇다면 한 행성 또는 한 별이 그보다 상위에 존재할 수 있으리니, 주 네 하나님은 행하고자 그 마음에 품은 것을 행하지 않음이 없느니라.
Now, if there be two things, one above the other, and the moon be above the earth, then it may be that a planet or a star may exist above it; and there is nothing that the Lord thy God shall take in his heart to do but what he will do it.
3:18 그러할지라도 그가 더 큰 별을 만들었도다. 그와 같이 또한 만일 두 영이 있어 하나가 다른 하나보다 더 총명할진대, 이들 두 영은 하나가 다른 것보다 더 총명함에도 불구하고 시작이 없나니, 그들은 이전에 존재하였고 끝이 없을 것이요, 이후에도 존재하리라. 이는 그들이 그노라움 곧 영원함이니라.
Howbeit that he made the greater star; as, also, if there be two spirits, and one shall be more intelligent than the other, yet these two spirits, notwithstanding one is more intelligent than the other, have no beginning; they existed before, they shall have no end, they shall exist after, for they are gnolaum, or eternal.
3:19 그리고 주께서 내게 이르시되, 이 두 사실이 존재하나니, 두 영이 있어 하나가 다른 하나보다 더 총명하면, 그들보다 더 총명한 또 다른 영이 있으리라. 나는 주 네 하나님이니, 나는 그들 모두보다 더 총명하니라.
And the Lord said unto me: These two facts do exist, that there are two spirits, one being more intelligent than the other; there shall be another more intelligent than they; I am the Lord thy God, I am more intelligent than they all.
3:20 주 네 하나님은 자기 천사를 보내어 엘케나의 제사장들의 손에서 너를 건져내었느니라.
The Lord thy God sent his angel to deliver thee from the hands of the priest of Elkenah.
3:21 나는 그들 모두의 가운데 거하나니, 그러므로 내가 이제 나의 손으로 만든 일을 네게 선포하기 위하여 네게로 내려왔느니라. 이 일에 있어서 나의 지혜는 그들 모두보다 뛰어나나니, 이는 내가 모든 지혜와 분별로써 위로는 하늘에서와 아래로는 땅에서 태초부터 네 눈이 보았던 모든 예지를 다스림이라. 나는 태초에 네가 본 모든 예지 가운데 내려왔느니라 하시더라.
I dwell in the midst of them all; I now, therefore, have come down unto thee to declare unto thee the works which my hands have made, wherein my wisdom excelleth them all, for I rule in the heavens above, and in the earth beneath, in all wisdom and prudence, over all the intelligences thine eyes have seen from the beginning; I came down in the beginning in the midst of all the intelligences thou hast seen.
3:22 이제 주께서 나 아브라함에게 세상이 있기 전에 조직된 예지들을 보여 주셨고, 이들 모두 가운데에는 고귀하고 위대한 자가 많더라.
Now the Lord had shown unto me, Abraham, the intelligences that were organized before the world was; and among all these there were many of the noble and great ones;
3:23 그리고 하나님께서 이 영들을 보신즉, 그들이 좋았더라. 그가 그들 가운데 서 계시더니, 그가 이르시되, 이들을 나는 나의 다스리는 자로 삼으리라 하시더라. 이는 그가 영인 그들 가운데 서 계셨음이라. 그가 보시매, 그들이 좋았더라. 이에 그가 내게 이르시되, 아브라함아, 너는 그들 중 하나니라. 너는 네가 태어나기 전에 택함을 받았느니라.
And God saw these souls that they were good, and he stood in the midst of them, and he said: These I will make my rulers; for he stood among those that were spirits, and he saw that they were good; and he said unto me: Abraham, thou art one of them; thou wast chosen before thou wast born.
3:24 그리고 하나님과 같으신 이가 한 분 그들 가운데 서 계시더니, 그가 자기와 함께 한 자들에게 이르시되, 우리가 내려가리라. 이는 그 곳에 공간이 있음이니, 우리가 이 물질을 취하여 이들이 거할 땅을 만들리라.
And there stood one among them that was like unto God, and he said unto those who were with him: We will go down, for there is space there, and we will take of these materials, and we will make an earth whereon these may dwell;
3:25 그리고 이로써 우리는 그들을 시험하여 주 그들의 하나님이 명하시는 것은 무엇이든지 그들이 다 행하는지를 보리라.
And we will prove them herewith, to see if they will do all things whatsoever the Lord their God shall command them;
3:26 그리고 자기의 첫째 지체를 지키는 자들은 더하여질 것이요, 자기의 첫째 지체를 지키지 아니하는 자들은 자기의 첫째 지체를 지키는 자들과 함께 같은 왕국에서 영광을 얻지 못하리라. 그리고 자기의 둘째 지체를 지키는 자들은 그들의 머리 위에 영광이 영원무궁토록 더하여지리라.
And they who keep their first estate shall be added upon; and they who keep not their first estate shall not have glory in the same kingdom with those who keep their first estate; and they who keep their second estate shall have glory added upon their heads for ever and ever.
3:27 그리고 주께서 이르시되, 내가 누구를 보낼꼬 하시니, 인자 같으신 이가 대답하되, 내가 여기 있사오니 나를 보내소서 하고, 다른 하나도 대답하여 가로되, 내가 여기 있사오니 나를 보내소서 하는지라, 주께서 이르시되, 내가 첫째를 보내리라.
And the Lord said: Whom shall I send? And one answered like unto the Son of Man: Here am I, send me. And another answered and said: Here am I, send me. And the Lord said: I will send the first.
3:28 이에 둘째가 성내어 자기의 첫째 지체를 지키지 아니하더라. 그리고 그 날에 많은 자가 그를 따랐더라.
And the second was angry, and kept not his first estate; and, at that day, many followed after him.

The Gods plan the creation of the earth and all life thereon—Their plans for the six days of creation are set forth.
4:1 그러고 나서 주께서 이르시되, 우리가 내려가자 하시고, 태초에 그들이 내려가시니라. 그리고 그들 곧 하나님들께서 하늘들과 이 땅을 조직하며 지으시더라.
AND then the Lord said: Let us go down. And they went down at the beginning, and they, that is the Gods, organized and formed the heavens and the earth.
4:2 그리고 땅은 형체가 이루어진 후에 공허하고 황량하였으니, 이는 그들이 땅 외에는 아무 것도 짓지 아니하신 까닭이라, 어둠이 깊음의 표면 위를 지배하였고 하나님들의 영은 수명을 조용히 덮고 계시더라.
And the earth, after it was formed, was empty and desolate, because they had not formed anything but the earth; and darkness reigned upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of the Gods was brooding upon the face of the waters.
4:3 그리고 그들(하나님들)이 이르시되, 빛이 있으라 하시매 빛이 있더라.
And they (the Gods) said: Let there be light; and there was light.
4:4 그리고 그들(하나님들)이 빛을 보고 아셨으니, 이는 그것이 밝았음이라. 그들이 빛과 어둠을 나누시고, 또는 빛과 어둠을 나뉘게 하시니라.
And they (the Gods) comprehended the light, for it was bright; and they divided the light, or caused it to be divided, from the darkness.
4:5 그리고 하나님들께서 빛을 낮이라 일컬으시고 어둠을 밤이라 일컬으시니라. 그리고 이렇게 되었나니, 저녁부터 아침까지를 그들이 밤이라 일컬으시고 아침부터 저녁까지를 낮이라 일컬으시니, 이는 그들이 낮과 밤이라 일컬으시는 것의 첫 번째 곧 시작이었더라.
And the Gods called the light Day, and the darkness they called Night. And it came to pass that from the evening until morning they called night; and from the morning until the evening they called day; and this was the first, or the beginning, of that which they called day and night.
4:6 그리고 또한 하나님들께서 이르시되, 물 가운데 창공이 있고, 그것이 물과 물을 나누게 할지어다 하시니라.
And the Gods also said: Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and it shall divide the waters from the waters.
4:7 그리고 하나님들께서 창공을 명하시매, 그것이 창공 아래의 물과 창공 위의 물을 나누었으니, 그들이 명하신 대로 그렇게 되니라.
And the Gods ordered the expanse, so that it divided the waters which were under the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse; and it was so, even as they ordered.
4:8 그리고 하나님들께서 창공을 하늘이라 일컬으시니라. 그리고 이같이 되었나니, 저녁부터 아침까지를 그들이 밤이라 일컬으시고, 또 이렇게 되었나니, 아침부터 저녁까지를 그들이 낮이라 일컬으시니, 이것이 그들이 밤과 낮이라 일컬으신 두 번째 때이더라.
And the Gods called the expanse, Heaven. And it came to pass that it was from evening until morning that they called night; and it came to pass that it was from morning until evening that they called day; and this was the second time that they called night and day.
4:9 그리고 하나님들께서 명하여 이르시되, 하늘 아래의 물은 한 곳으로 함께 모이고 땅은 올라와 마르라 하시니, 그들이 명하신 대로 그렇게 되니라.
And the Gods ordered, saying: Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the earth come up dry; and it was so as they ordered;
4:10 그리고 하나님들께서 마른 육지를 땅이라 선언하시고 물이 함께 모인 곳을 그들이 큰 물이라 선언하시니, 하나님들께서 보신즉, 그것들이 순종하더라.
And the Gods pronounced the dry land, Earth; and the gathering together of the waters, pronounced they, Great Waters; and the Gods saw that they were obeyed.
4:11 그리고 하나님들께서 이르시되, 땅을 준비시켜 풀과, 씨 맺는 채소와, 그 씨가 그 자체로써 땅 위에 자신과 닮은 것을 내는 열매 맺는 과목을 그 종류대로 내게 하자 하시니, 그들이 명하신 대로 그렇게 되니라.
And the Gods said: Let us prepare the earth to bring forth grass; the herb yielding seed; the fruit tree yielding fruit, after his kind, whose seed in itself yieldeth its own likeness upon the earth; and it was so, even as they ordered.
4:12 그리고 하나님들께서 땅을 조직하사 풀을 그 씨에서 내게 하시고, 그 종류대로 씨 맺는 채소를 그 씨에서 내게 하시고, 땅으로 하여금 그 씨가 그 자체로써 그 종류대로 같은 것을 낼 수 있을 따름인 열매 맺는 나무를 그 씨에서 내게 하시니, 하나님들께서 보신즉, 그것들이 순종하더라.
And the Gods organized the earth to bring forth grass from its own seed, and the herb to bring forth herb from its own seed, yielding seed after his kind; and the earth to bring forth the tree from its own seed, yielding fruit, whose seed could only bring forth the same in itself, after his kind; and the Gods saw that they were obeyed.
4:13 그리고 이렇게 되었나니, 그들이 날들을 세시며, 저녁부터 아침까지를 그들이 밤이라 일컬으시고, 또 이렇게 되었나니, 아침부터 저녁까지를 그들이 낮이라 일컬으시니 이는 세 번째 때이더라.
And it came to pass that they numbered the days; from the evening until the morning they called night; and it came to pass, from the morning until the evening they called day; and it was the third time.
4:14 또 하나님들께서 하늘의 창공에 광명체들을 조직하시고 그것들로 낮과 밤을 나누게 하시고 그것들을 조직하사 징조와 계절과 날과 해를 이루게 하시니라.
And the Gods organized the lights in the expanse of the heaven, and caused them to divide the day from the night; and organized them to be for signs and for seasons, and for days and for years;
4:15 또 그것들을 조직하사 하늘의 창공에 광명체들이 있게 하시고 땅을 비추게 하시니, 그대로 되니라.
And organized them to be for lights in the expanse of the heaven to give light upon the earth; and it was so.
4:16 또 하나님들께서 두 큰 광명체를 조직하시고 큰 광명체로 낮을 주관하게 하시고 작은 광명체로 밤을 주관하게 하시며, 또 작은 광명체와 더불어 그들이 별들도 있게 하시니라.
And the Gods organized the two great lights, the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night; with the lesser light they set the stars also;
4:17 그리고 하나님들께서 하늘의 창공에 그것들을 두사 땅을 비추게 하시고 낮과 밤을 주관하게 하시고 빛과 어둠을 나누게 하시니라.
And the Gods set them in the expanse of the heavens, to give light upon the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to cause to divide the light from the darkness.
4:18 그리고 하나님들께서 그 명하신 것들이 순종하기까지 그것들을 지켜보시니라.
And the Gods watched those things which they had ordered until they obeyed.
4:19 그리고 이렇게 되었나니, 저녁부터 아침까지가 밤이었고, 또 이렇게 되었나니, 아침부터 저녁까지가 낮이었으니, 이는 네 번째 때이더라.
And it came to pass that it was from evening until morning that it was night; and it came to pass that it was from morning until evening that it was day; and it was the fourth time.
4:20 그리고 하나님들께서 이르시되, 물을 준비시켜 생명을 가진 움직이는 생물을 풍성히 내게 하고, 새들도 그리하여 하늘의 열린 창공에서 땅 위를 날게 하자 하시고,
And the Gods said: Let us prepare the waters to bring forth abundantly the moving creatures that have life; and the fowl, that they may fly above the earth in the open expanse of heaven.
4:21 하나님들께서 물을 준비하사 그것으로 물이 그 종류대로 풍성히 내야 할 움직이는 모든 생물과 큰 고래를 내게 하시고, 그리고 날개 가진 모든 새를 그 종류대로 내게 하시니라. 하나님들께서 보신즉, 그것들이 순종하고자 하며 그들의 계획이 좋았더라.
And the Gods prepared the waters that they might bring forth great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters were to bring forth abundantly after their kind; and every winged fowl after their kind. And the Gods saw that they would be obeyed, and that their plan was good.
4:22 그리고 하나님들께서 이르시되, 우리가 그것들에게 복을 주어 그것들로 생육하고 번성하게 하며, 바다 곧 큰 물에 물을 가득 차게 하고 새들은 땅에서 번성하게 하리라 하시더라.
And the Gods said: We will bless them, and cause them to be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas or great waters; and cause the fowl to multiply in the earth.
4:23 그리고 이렇게 되었나니, 저녁부터 아침까지를 그들이 밤이라 일컬으시고 또 이렇게 되었나니, 아침부터 저녁까지를 그들이 낮이라 일컬으시니, 이는 다섯 번째 때이더라.
And it came to pass that it was from evening until morning that they called night; and it came to pass that it was from morning until evening that they called day; and it was the fifth time.
4:24 그리고 하나님들께서 땅을 준비하사 생물을 그 종류대로, 육축과 기는 것들과 땅의 짐승을 그 종류대로 내게 하시니, 그들이 말씀하신 대로 그렇게 되니라.
And the Gods prepared the earth to bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle and creeping things, and beasts of the earth after their kind; and it was so, as they had said.
4:25 그리고 하나님들께서 땅을 조직하사 짐승을 그 종류대로, 육축을 그 종류대로, 땅 위를 기어다니는 모든 것을 그 종류대로 내게 하시니, 하나님들께서 보신즉 그것들이 순종하고자 하더라.
And the Gods organized the earth to bring forth the beasts after their kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after its kind; and the Gods saw they would obey.
4:26 그리고 하나님들께서 서로 의논하사 이르시되, 우리가 내려가서 우리의 형상대로 우리의 모양을 따라 사람을 만들자. 그리고 우리는 그들에게 바다의 고기와 공중의 새와 육축과 온 땅과 땅 위를 기는 모든 기어다니는 것들을 다스리게 하리라.
And the Gods took counsel among themselves and said: Let us go down and form man in our image, after our likeness; and we will give them dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
4:27 그리하여 하나님들께서 내려가 자기들의 형상대로 사람을 조직하시되, 하나님들의 형상대로 그들이 그를 지으시고, 그들을 남자와 여자로 지으시니라.
So the Gods went down to organize man in their own image, in the image of the Gods to form they him, male and female to form they them.
4:28 그리고 하나님들께서 이르시되, 우리가 그들에게 복을 주리라 하시고, 하나님들께서 이르시되, 우리가 그들로 생육하고 번성하여 땅을 가득 채우게 하고 땅을 정복하고 바다의 고기와 공중의 새와 땅 위에 움직이는 모든 생물을 다스리게 하리라.
And the Gods said: We will bless them. And the Gods said: We will cause them to be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it, and to have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
4:29 또 하나님들께서 이르시되, 보라, 우리가 온 지면에 나게 될 씨 맺는 모든 채소와 열매를 맺을 모든 나무를 그들에게 주리니, 참으로 씨 맺는 나무의 열매를 그들에게 줄 것이요, 그것들이 그들의 먹을거리가 되리라.
And the Gods said: Behold, we will give them every herb bearing seed that shall come upon the face of all the earth, and every tree which shall have fruit upon it; yea, the fruit of the tree yielding seed to them we will give it; it shall be for their meat.
4:30 그리고 땅의 모든 짐승과 공중의 모든 새와 땅 위를 기는 모든 것에게, 보라, 우리가 그들에게 생명을 주고 또한 그들에게 모든 푸른 채소를 먹을거리로 주리니, 이 모든 것들이 이같이 조직되리라.
And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, behold, we will give them life, and also we will give to them every green herb for meat, and all these things shall be thus organized.
4:31 그리고 하나님들께서 이르시되, 우리가 말한 모든 것을 우리가 행하여 그것들을 조직하리니, 보라, 그것들이 매우 잘 순종하리라. 그리고 이렇게 되었나니, 저녁부터 아침까지를 그들이 밤이라 일컬으시고 또 이렇게 되었나니, 아침부터 저녁까지를 그들이 낮이라 일컬으시니, 그들이 여섯 번째 때를 세시더라.
And the Gods said: We will do everything that we have said, and organize them; and behold, they shall be very obedient. And it came to pass that it was from evening until morning they called night; and it came to pass that it was from morning until evening that they called day; and they numbered the sixth time.

하나님들께서 만물의 창조의 계획을 마치심 - 그들이 자기들의 계획대로 창조를 이루심 - 아담이 모든 생물의 이름을 지음.
The Gods finish their planning of the creation of all things—They bring to pass the creation according to their plans—Adam names every living creature.
5:1 그리고 이같이 우리가 하늘들과 이 땅과 그 중의 만물을 완성하리라.
AND thus we will finish the heavens and the earth, and all the hosts of them.
5:2 그리고 하나님들께서 서로 이르시되, 일곱 번째 때에 우리가 정한 우리의 일을 끝내리니, 우리가 정한 우리의 모든 일에서 일곱 번째 때에 쉬리라.
And the Gods said among themselves: On the seventh time we will end our work, which we have counseled; and we will rest on the seventh time from all our work which we have counseled.
5:3 그리고 일곱 번째 때에 그들(하나님들)이 짓기로 정한 그들의 모든 일에서 쉬기로 하셨으므로, 하나님들께서 일곱 번째 때에 끝마치시고 이를 성결하게 하셨더라. 그리고 이것이 그들이 하늘들과 땅을 짓기로 서로 정한 때에 내린 결정이었더라.
And the Gods concluded upon the seventh time, because that on the seventh time they would rest from all their works which they (the Gods) counseled among themselves to form; and sanctified it. And thus were their decisions at the time that they counseled among themselves to form the heavens and the earth.
5:4 그리고 하나님들께서 내려오사 이러한 내력으로 하늘들과 땅을 지으셨으니, 하나님들께서 땅과 하늘들을 지으시던 날에 이렇게 지어졌으매,
And the Gods came down and formed these the generations of the heavens and of the earth, when they were formed in the day that the Gods formed the earth and the heavens,
5:5 들의 모든 초목이 땅에 있기 전에, 또 들의 모든 채소가 자라기 전에 그것들에 관하여 그들이 말씀하셨던 모든 것에 좇아 그리 하신 것이라. 이는 하나님들께서 그 일을 행하기로 정하였을 때 땅에 비를 내리게 하지 아니하셨고 땅을 갈 사람도 짓지 아니하셨음이더라.
According to all that which they had said concerning every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew; for the Gods had not caused it to rain upon the earth when they counseled to do them, and had not formed a man to till the ground.
5:6 그러나 안개가 땅에서 올라와 온 지면을 적셨더라.
But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.
5:7 그리고 하나님들께서 땅의 흙으로 사람을 지으시고 그의 영(이는 곧 그 사람의 영이라)을 취하사 그 사람 안에 넣으시고 생기를 그의 코에 불어넣으시니, 사람이 생령이 되니라.
And the Gods formed man from the dust of the ground, and took his spirit (that is, the man’s spirit), and put it into him; and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul.
5:8 그리고 하나님들께서 동쪽 에덴에 동산을 창설하시고, 그들이 지으신 몸에 그의 영을 넣은 그 사람을 거기에 두시고,
And the Gods planted a garden, eastward in Eden, and there they put the man, whose spirit they had put into the body which they had formed.
5:9 하나님들께서 그 땅에서 보기에 아름답고 먹기에 좋은 모든 나무를 자라게 하시니, 동산 가운데에는 생명의 나무와 또한 선악을 알게 하는 나무도 자라게 하셨더라.
And out of the ground made the Gods to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food; the tree of life, also, in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
5:10 강이 에덴에서 흘러 나와 동산을 적시고 거기서부터 갈라져 네 근원이 되었으며,
There was a river running out of Eden, to water the garden, and from thence it was parted and became into four heads.
5:11 하나님들께서 그 사람을 데리고 와서 에덴 동산에 두사 그것을 가꾸며 지키게 하시니라.
And the Gods took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden, to dress it and to keep it.
5:12 또 하나님들께서 그 사람에게 명하여 이르시되, 동산의 각종 나무의 열매는 네가 먹어도 좋으나,
And the Gods commanded the man, saying: Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat,
5:13 선악을 알게 하는 나무의 열매는 먹지 말라. 네가 그것을 먹는 때에는 반드시 죽으리라 하시니라. 이제 나 아브라함이 보니, 그때는 주의 시간을 따른 것이요, 이는 콜롭의 때를 따른 것이었으니, 이는 아직까지 하나님들께서 아담에게 그의 계산법을 정하여 주지 아니하셨음이더라.
But of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it; for in the time that thou eatest thereof, thou shalt surely die. Now I, Abraham, saw that it was after the Lord’s time, which was after the time of Kolob; for as yet the Gods had not appointed unto Adam his reckoning.
5:14 또 하나님들께서 이르시되, 그 사람을 위하여 돕는 배필을 짓자. 이는 사람이 홀로 있음이 좋지 아니함이니, 그러므로 그를 위하여 돕는 배필을 지으리라 하시니라.
And the Gods said: Let us make an help meet for the man, for it is not good that the man should be alone, therefore we will form an help meet for him.
5:15 그리고 하나님들께서 아담을 깊이 잠들게 하시니, 그가 잠들매, 그들이 그의 갈빗대 하나를 취하고 살로 대신 채우시고,
And the Gods caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam; and he slept, and they took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in the stead thereof;
5:16 하나님들께서 남자에게서 취하신 그 갈빗대로 여자를 지으시고 그를 그 사람에게로 이끌어 오시니,
And of the rib which the Gods had taken from man, formed they a woman, and brought her unto the man.
5:17 아담이 이르되, 이는 내 뼈중의 뼈요 내 살 중의 살이었도다. 그를 남자에게서 취하였은즉, 이제 여자라 부르리라 하니라.
And Adam said: This was bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh; now she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of man;
5:18 그리므로 남자가 자기 아버지와 자기 어머니를 떠나 그 아내와 합하여 둘이 한 몸을 이룰지로다 하니라.
Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife, and they shall be one flesh.
5:19 남자와 그 아내 두 사람이 벌거벗었으나 부끄러워하지 아니하니라.
And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
5:20 그리고 하나님들께서 흙으로 각종 들짐승과 각종 공중의 새를 지으시고 아담이 무엇이라 부르나 보시려고 그것들을 아담에게로 이끌어 오시니, 아담이 각 생물을 일컫는 바가 곧 그 이름이 되었더라.
And out of the ground the Gods formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air, and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them; and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that should be the name thereof.
5:21 그리고 아담이 모든 육축과 공중의 새와 들의 모든 짐승에게 이름을 주니라. 또 아담을 위하여 그를 돕는 배필이 있더라.
And Adam gave names to all cattle, to the fowl of the air, to every beast of the field; and for Adam, there was found an help meet for him.
