이더서 10:9~34. 고도의 문명 : "이더서 10장에는 야렛 민족의 역사가 들어 있다. 이 기록이 불충분하더라도 우리는 그들의 수준 높은 문명 상태를 간파할 수 있다. 예를 들면, 모로나이는 우리에게 야렛 백성에 관해 다음과 같이 말한다.

이더서 10:1~8. 야렛 백성의 사악함. : "5절부터 7절 사이에는 리플레이키시의 통치가 언급되어 있다. 그의 사악함을 모사이야서 11장에서 노아 왕이 어떻게 되풀이했는가를 살펴본다. 이 두 왕의 다음 특징을 유의해 보자.
"이사야가 그의 백성들과 우리에게 다음과 같이 경고한 것은 놀라운 일이 아닌가? “이 백성의 인도자들이 그들로 그르치게 하니”(이사야 9:16 니파이후서 19:16) 의로운 모사이야 왕은 “백성의 죄는 간악한 왕의 죄로 말미암는 것임에”(모사이야서 29:31) 그의 백성에게 왕을 갖지 않도록 후에 명했다. 또한 야렛 백성은 주님의 허락을 받지 않은 채 복수 결혼을 자행했던 것 같다.(이더서 10:5 참조) 이더서 14장 2절에서는 어떤 사람이 그“아내들”의 생명을 지켰다라고 언급되어 있다. 야렛 백성들이 여러 아내를 거느리도록 주님께서 허락해 주셨는지는 밝혀지지 않았지만 적어도 리플레이키시의 경우는 악용된 것이었다." | 이더 10:15 | 또 이렇게 되었나니 레위가 그 부친이 죽은 후에 사십이 년 동안 사로잡힌 중에 지내다가, 그 땅의 왕을 대적하여 전쟁을 일으켜, 그로 말미암아 스스로 나라를 취하였더라. | And it came to pass that Levi did serve in captivity after the death of his father, for the space of forty and two years. And he did make war against the king of the land, by which he did obtain unto himself the kingdom. | |||||||||||||||||||

And in the days of Lib the poisonous serpents were destroyed. Wherefore they did go into the land southward, to hunt food for the people of the land, for the land was covered with animals of the forest.
